PostgreSQL

There are several reasons why you would want to get an application like PostgreSQL: it runs on all major operating systems, it has a reputation for being reliable, it is an open source project (meaning you can use PostgreSQL for free), and it has powerful functionality to offer – open source object-relational database system functionality to be more precise.

As mentioned above, PostgreSQL is available for multiple platforms: Windows, Linux, UNIX ((AIX, BSD, HP-UX, SGI IRIX, Mac OS X, Solaris, Tru64). On the left hand side of the application’s interface you will notice the Object Browser panel that presents all your servers. Select a server and info about it will be presented in the panel to the right: properties, statistics dependencies, and dependents. At the top there’s a traditional File Menu and a bar with buttons for various functions the application can perform.
